Here’s a challenge: Find a restaurant with the fastest delivery in town with the fewest calories. With the whirl-wind lifestyle many families are living right now, it can be difficult to make time for a healthy dinner, but everyone knows that fast food can be one of your worst choices. Many restaurants offer take-out and delivery services though, so the only challenge facing us busy folks is to choose healthier entrees. Of course there’s the usual salads, and on hot summer days, a crisp salad might be the perfect choice. Salads are also relatively easy to prepare, ensuring a quicker delivery than say, the roast beef platter. However, if you’re looking to save on calories, be mindful of the toppings and dressings. Almost all varieties of lettuces are basically non-calorie foods, but once you tack on a selection of salty, fatty meats and cheeses and add creamy dressings and croutons, you’re not saving anything in the calorie department. That once healthy choice is now a calorie-bomb. Stick with light dressings and load up on the raw veggies. The same goes when choosing a sandwich. Oftentimes, a grilled sandwich can be healthier and just as tasty as a salad, but again, you must remember to omit the toppings that add the fat and calories. Choosing whole grain breads, grilled meats or sticking with the veggie platter can be just as nutritious and satisfying without destroying your diet.
